Blackheads can be very annoying and frustrating, they are a real pain to get rid of, you can pinch them, squeeze them and attempt to distract them, but most of the time, that will just make them worse and they could even become infected blackheads.

To get rid of blackheads, we need to understand why they are there and how they form, this is the best description;

“A blackhead is formed by a plug of sebum or oil becoming trapped in a pore. The plug becomes hard and oxidises turning black, hence the name.”

So, now we know that blackheads are to do with pores becoming blocked, so now it is simple; stop the pore from being blocked OR unblock the pores.

Blackheads are most common in people with Oily skin and occur most frequently in the area called the T-Zone, which is very prone to oil, dirt and bacteria. When treating blackheads, nearly everyone makes the same mistake. They’re in the bathroom, glance across at the mirror and see a few blackheads, what is the first thing you do? Squeeze them. No harm done right? WRONG!

DO NOT SQUEEZE YOUR BLACKHEADS!

When you squeeze, you may remove some of the blackheads from the surface of your skin. What happens underneath the skin is another story. You could be causing the pore to become permanently damaged or more clogged. You can also cause scarring. Have you ever noticed people with really large pores on their nose? That’s what your face could look like if you squeeze.

In my opinion, the best way to get rid of blackheads is with a regular and effective treatment, there is no such thing as a quick fix with acne and blackheads, if you want to get rid of blackheads, you in it for the long run, but the results are worth it.

Have a look through our Blackhead Treatments list, pick out which type of treatment best suits you, research it and then try it out, you may not have 100% success with the first treatment you try, but keep going.
