Acne types

Acne vulgaris. Acne vulgaris is common at the age of 12-14. The most common cause for it is clogged pores, because the hormone levels are increased and the sebum secretion is very high. Fat skin is perfect for acne. If the parents have the same skin type, a common cause for acne is genetics. Acne vulgaris is the most pronounced, with pretty big pimples. Severe acne occurs mostly on the face and it’s described by big intense lesions, that don’t react to acne treatments. This acne form is more frequent in boys.

Acne rosacea. Besides pimples and redness, there are also red spots and nodules that appear on the nose. Acne rosacea appears at persons over 40, and this is why it’s also called adult acne.

Teen acne. Just as the name describes it, it appears in teenagers of 12-14 years old. It disappears suddenly round the age of 19-20. It presents skin lesions that act as inflammations of the sebaceous follicle. 75% of the teenagers are affected by this type of acne.

How to treat acne

Acne treatment depends on its severity, dimensions and spread of the lesions. Nowadays there are many acne treatments available.

Because it has a high grade of inflammation, it’s necessary that the chosen acne treatments are covering a wide-spread, but is best recommended addressing a dermatologist before you act. In cases of severe acne, specialists recommend acne treatments based on antibiotics, like tetracycline, and in case the acne doesn’t respond to this treatment, use isotretinoid.

Be careful, the acne treatment must be prescribed by the dermatologist, because it may have serious side effects.
